Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad on Monday asked students to have a discussion with her as a huge section of students gathered before her house and demonstrated against Class 10 and 12 offline examination.
“We’ve been continuously discussing students’ health and safety. I told students to have discussions with me; I’ll decide further,” said Varsha Eknath Gaikwad.
She further asserted,” But we also have to keep in mind the two-year loss in school students’ education.”
On being asked whether the crowd gathered on the directions of Vikas Fhatak aka ‘Hindustani Bhau’. DCP Pranay Ashok said that an inquiry will be conducted and action will be taken.
According to the media reports, Hindustani Bhau during his Instagram live session said that examinations canceled immediately or he, along with his supporters, move to the doorstep of Varsha Gaikwad and protest.
He assured the students of his full support until they get justice. Bhau, in his video, said that he is powerful enough to face consequences and jail.
The students have protested in front of the minister’s house on Monday (January 31) demanding the cancellation of the examination of Class 10 and 12 in view of the Covid-19 pandemic prevailing in the state. After observing a large crowd, the police charged lathis in order to disperse the students.
The students from areas like Thane and Nashik besides the metropolis on the basis of information shared on social media. Did not have permission for the protest, the police official added. “No student injured in the lathi charge. Some of them brought to the local police station and released soon after.
