He has been critical of former President Barack Obama and left Harvard Divinity School due to a tenure dispute. He also served as surrogate and close confidant of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders during both of his presidential campaigns.
West discussed his opposition to the “parasitical” dual-party system in an interview with writer and Presbyterian preacher Chris Hedges. He criticised both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, who are leading their respective parties in the 2024 election.
West promised Hedges that he would take his campaign to rural areas in the South to meet with white, working-class supporters of Trump. He discussed the need to go to Trump’s social base and speak to his white brothers and sisters in a way that they don’t have to follow a neofascist pied piper.
He also said that they are trying to break the back of the two-party system and corporate duopoly, which is at stake if they don’t.To secure a spot on the 2024 ballot, West will need to collect enough signatures in a petition to each state as well as the District of Columbia.
