The Election Commission of India (ECI) has enlisted Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana to engage with first-time voters ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The ECI aims to encourage maximum citizen participation in the electoral process and emphasize the importance of selecting the right candidates as representatives. Through social media platforms, the ECI has released a video featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, wherein he delivers a special message urging voters to exercise their franchise.

In 2019, the ECI appointed actor Rajkumar Rao as Youth Icon. Their role is to clear confusion and myths about the power of voting and why it is necessary for every citizen who is above the age of 18 years.

Ayushmann Khurrana: Leveraging Bollywood Influence for Voter Awareness

Ayushmann Khurrana, who is popular among the youth, is known for flagging several social issues and giving messages to end taboos through his films. This time, the ECI has tried to use his popularity and image to inspire youth to be aware of the power of their vote.

Ayushmann was last seen on silver in Dream Girl 2 along with Ananya Pandey, and Anu Kapoor. He has delivered hits like Article 15, Badhaai Ho, Vicky Doner, and others to spread awareness on several social issues through acting and humor.

Exercise Your Right to Vote!

In the trending video, Ayushmann Khurana gave a message for the youth, stating: “In the next few months, elections will be held across the country in different phases, and you might have 101 excuses, but you need only one reason to exercise your vote, which is, our and our country’s future. Please spare a day to cast your vote and elect your representative.”

The actor also tagged Elections as a festival in democracy, which should be celebrated by casting the precious vote with pride. The ECI video also carries voters’ helpline number 1950 and information about the voters’ application for further assistance, if needed.
