A shocking incident occurred in Kadugodi, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where a 15-year-old girl took her life by jumping from the 20th floor of an apartment on Wednesday, according to the police. The victim, Avantika Chourasia, a class 10 student, hailed from Madhya Pradesh. Her father works as an engineer and her mother is a homemaker. Avantika was studying at a private CBSE school in Whitefield and had scored lower marks in a recent test. With the annual exams approaching on February 15, she was spending time on her mobile phone, which led to a conflict with her mother.

Conflict and Possible Trigger
After observing her daughter’s mobile usage, Avantika’s mother objected and urged her to focus on studying instead. Police suspect that the girl, feeling upset and enraged by this rebuke, jumped from the 20th floor of the apartment and took her own life. The police have registered a case of Unnatural Death Report (UDR) and are currently investigating the incident. Official statements from the parents are still awaited, and further details are yet to emerge.

Similar Tragic Incidents in Bengaluru
This incident follows a series of recent suicides in Bengaluru. On February 4, a 24-year-old postgraduate student at Bengaluru University was found dead in her hostel room at the Jnana Bharathi campus. The girl was pursuing an M.A. in Kannada. Additionally, on February 6, a 19-year-old nursing student from Kerala, Anamika Vineeth, allegedly died by suicide inside her hostel room in Ramanagara. Her parents have raised concerns about the pressure from the college management.
