In a display of severe neglect, employees at a hospital in Bihar substituted a Sprite bottle for a urine bag on a patient, attributing the action to a lack of essential medications and medical supplies.
The incident happened on Monday night, when a patient was brought to Sadar Hospital in an unconscious state. After examination, the doctor instructed the staff to provide the patient with a urinal bag. Doctor also administer an insulin injection along with a gas pipe for resuscitation.

Ramesh Pandey, in his defence, said that he was unaware of the shortage of urinal bags at the hospital. He and made arrangements as soon as he received information.
“The person in charge had suffered a leg fracture. Hence, I wasn’t informed about the shortage of medicine,” Ramesh said, adding that arrangements for the required supplies were made.
