A 20-year-old engineering student committed suicide in Warangal, Telangana, after a male friend allegedly shared her personal photos with others. On February 22, the woman’s father reported her missing. After learning about the complaint, the woman, who was in Chennai at the time, called her parents and returned home on February 23.
The woman allegedly had a friendship with an undergraduate student who loved her. However, the two stopped talking over some differences following which the man allegedly shared some personal photos with her other friends. This made the woman upset and she hanged herself at a relative’s house Sunday evening, police said.
“A student died by suicide in Bhupalpally. A missing complaint was filed by her parents on February 22. The girl came back home the next day and told her parents that her classmates were circulating her old childhood pictures after which she hung herself,” DSP Bhupalpally A Ramulu said.
According to the deceased’s parents, she took the extreme step due to harassment. The police have arrested three people, Alokya, Rahul, and Yashwant, and have filed a case against them.
“The woman stated in her statement that she fled after her classmates insulted her by sharing childhood photos. These photos were circulated by her friends Alokya, Rahul, and Yashwant. A case has been filed, and further investigation is being conducted “According to the DSP.
Last year in December, a first-year post-graduate medical student allegedly attempted suicide at a state-run hospital in Warangal district after being “harassed” by her senior in the same college, a male doctor. She died at a state-run hospital on Sunday night.
Last week, a final year MBBS student took his life in his hostel room in Telangana by hanging himself. Harsha was a bright student and appeared for two papers of the final year already and was supposed to attend another one on Saturday, an official of the medical college said, PTI reported.
