“On July 1, a 28-year-old pregnant woman from the Erandwane area tested positive for Zika virus infection,” an official said. “Another woman, who is 12 weeks pregnant, also tested positive on the same day. Both women are in good condition and are asymptomatic,” the official added.
Zika virus in pregnant women may cause microcephaly (condition in which the head is significantly smaller due to abnormal brain development) in the foetus.
