Two children, aged seven and 14, have been diagnosed with Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in Nagpur, raising the total number of cases of the respiratory infection in India to seven.
On January 3, the children were brought to a private hospital in the Ramdaspeth area of the city for treatment of fever and cough.
Following medical tests, the hospital confirmed the presence of HMPV, a respiratory illness resembling Covid-19 that impacts both the upper and lower respiratory tracts, causing symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, and sore throat.
