Children complained of vomiting and stomach aches due to food poisoning

A staff member of the Government Balgir Nirman Nirvana Institute stated that children were hospitalized after suffering from vomiting and stomach pain. At the time, 146 children were at the institute. Sadly, two lost their lives, while 16 remain under treatment, though their condition is stable.

On Tuesday evening, around 20 special needs children at the center fell ill and were taken to Lokbandhu Hospital. “They arrived severely dehydrated. Despite our efforts, two children died,” said Dr. Rajeev Kumar Dixit, Medical Superintendent of Lok Bandhu Raj Narayan Combined Hospital, as reported by PTI.

Probe Launched Into Suspected Negligence Incident

According to initial reports, the children fell ill after consuming Khichdi and curd. Preliminary findings suggest negligence by the centre led to the tragic deaths and several hospitalizations.

Local authorities have launched an investigation, with officials assuring strict action against those responsible. The Lucknow District Magistrate has set up a committee to determine the cause of the suspected food poisoning.

Health and Food Safety Department officials visited the hospital to question the affected children and collected food samples from the rehabilitation centre for analysis. Action will be taken based on the investigation report.
