India has reported 1,68,063 new cases of Update COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) informed on Tuesday morning. The daily positivity rate now stands at 10.64 per cent.
The fresh infections in the country are 11,660 cases or 6.48 per cent lower than the previous day.
India’s active caseload has now increased to 8,21,446. In the last 24 hours, as many as 277 people have died of COVID-19 taking the total fatalities in the country to 4,84,213.
The health ministry informed that 69,959 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 3,45,70,131. The country’s recovery rate currently stands at 96.36 per cent.
Total of 3,58,75,790 people have been infected in the country with. The weekly positivity rate now is at 8.85 per cent.
India is already under the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic. Government at the Centre and states have been urging people to wear mask and maintain social distancing. People are also asked to get themselves vaccinated against COVID-19 at the earliest.

The country from January 10 is also start administering precautionary dose or third dose, which is also be call booster shot, to people frontline workers, health workers and people above 60 years with comorbidities. On the first day, 9,84,676 beneficiaries in this group have been vaccinate.
