The Russia-made Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V has been approved in India. After which the country will now have its third vaccine in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.
This Covid-19 vaccine will be manufacturing in five pharma companies in India which will produce 850 million doses annually. This coronavirus vaccine will become available by the end of April.
Sputnik V, manufactured in India by Dr. Reddy’s, is 91.6 percent effective, the most followed by Modern and Pfizer. The vaccine is already in the third phase of the clinical trial in India. Also, Dr Reddy applied in February to approve the emergency use of the vaccine.
This Russia-made covid-19 vaccine was to approve by a special committee of the DCGI, India’s drug regulator.
Thus, the Subject Expert Committee of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization approved it after the deadly second wave in the country on Monday, as many states have raised questions about the Covid-19 vaccine shortage.
Also, RDIF has agreements with the five pharmaceutical companies of the country – Gland Pharma, Hetero Biopharma, Panacea Biotech, Stellis Bioparma, Virchow Biotech – aiming to produce over 850 million doses per year.
However, the CEO of Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dimryk said. “We believe that the first dose will be delivere by the end of April or early May, but India will certainly receive the dose in May. As you know, We have five great manufacturers in India, who will produce supplements.
Also, it will take a few months to increase production capacity. We will be at a good production capacity in India and will be a very meaningful player in the vaccination program in India. “
