PM Modi is going to get vaccinated along with the Chief Ministers of all the states

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Thursday that he is going to get vaccinated along with the Chief Ministers of all the states.

This announcement by PM Modi assumes significance because there has been confusion about the efficacy of the coronavirus vaccine. The vaccination drive, which started on January 16, saw several people fall sick after taking the vaccine, which has increased doubts about the vaccine among the people.

Several opposition leaders had also questioned the central government over the alleged deficiencies in the vaccination drive.

In a meeting with Chief Ministers earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there is no need to panic and everyone above the age of 50 years is going to get vaccinated in the second phase.

The second phase is being described as the largest inoculation drive in the world. The vaccination program, the first phase of which was launched on January 16, is going to prove as a decisive victory for India against the Covid-19 pandemic.

In case of emergency, India has allowed the use of Covaxin developed by Bharat Biotech, Covidshield manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, Pune.

The shots are being offered to the estimated 1 crore healthcare workers and around 2 crore frontline workers and also to people above the age of 50 years followed by people suffering from the worst health issues.
