    Union Finance Nirmala Sitharaman said Rs 35,000 crore have been allotted to the covid-19 vaccine

    While announcing the Union Budget 2021-22, Union Finance Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said Rs 35,000 crore have been allotted to the covid-19 vaccine expenditure under the budget. The finance minister also added that she is willing to provide more funds if required.

    I have provided Rs 35,000 crore for covid-19 vaccination in 2021-22; I am committed to providing more funds if required,” she said.

    India now has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates of 112 per million population and one of the lowest active cases of about 130 per million. This has laid the foundation for the economic revival we see today,” Sitharaman said in Parliament.

    Today India has two vaccines available and has begun safeguarding not only her own citizens against Covid-19 but also those of 100 or more countries. It has added comfort to know that 2 Crore more vaccines are also expected soon, ” she added. 

    India is currently conducting a nationwide covid-19 vaccination program. A total of 37,58,843 vaccinations against Covid-19 has happened in India since it started the Covid immunization drive. The nationwide immunization drive began across the country on January 16 after the approval of the two Covid vaccines.

    Meanwhile, addressing the nation on his monthly radio program ‘Mann ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India is conducting the world’s largest vaccination drive and is vaccinating citizens faster than anywhere in the world. He also recounted India’s achievement of inoculating over 3 million people in just 13 days, the fastest in the world.
