On Tuesday morning, a Myanmar military aircraft crash-landed at Lengpui airport near Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, resulting in injuries to eight individuals on board.

Aircraft Retrieval Mission Ends in Mishap
The aircraft, which had arrived to retrieve its soldiers from Mizoram, crashed during the landing at the airport, veering off the runway. The plane, of modest size, carried 14 individuals, including the crew and pilot. According to an official in Mizoram, eight people sustained injuries, while the remaining six are reported to be safe.
The injured individuals were promptly transported to Lengpui hospital. The official, however, did not disclose additional details regarding the circumstances of the incident. Photographs shared by a Mizoram government representative depicted the plane situated within a nearby jungle, suggesting it ended up there after skidding off the runway.

Military Exodus to Mizoram
On January 17, total of 276 members of the Myanmar military sought refuge in Mizoram, having fled confrontation with rebels. Reports indicate that during the clash, the rebels managed to capture the Khankha mountain military base.
Border Incursion and Military Evacuation
They crossed into Bandukbanga village situated in Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district, which shares a border with Myanmar. On Monday, a Myanmar military aircraft conducted two flights from Lengpui airport, retrieving a total of 184 soldiers. Subsequently, on Tuesday morning, the same plane returned to transport the remaining 92 soldiers back to Myanmar.
