Gmail, Google’s email service, marked its 20th anniversary on April 1, 2024. Initially launched on April Fool’s Day, many users initially thought it was a prank by Google’s co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. However, Gmail’s introduction of a massive 1 gigabyte storage capacity, far surpassing its competitors, along with its advanced search capabilities, quickly distinguished it in the market. Today, Gmail stands as the world’s leading email service, boasting millions of users worldwide.

Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, commemorated Gmail’s milestone in a social media post, expressing relief that it wasn’t a prank after all. Additionally, Google India joined the celebration with a video emphasizing a common user error: forgetting to attach files, humorously presented as a “beautiful attachment” in a birthday message to Gmail.
