The Israeli military announced on Thursday that it had “eliminated” Rawhi Mushtaha, the head of the Hamas government in Gaza, in an airstrike conducted three months ago. The strike also killed two senior Hamas security officials, Sameh al-Siraj and Sami Oudeh.

According to the military, the strike targeted an underground compound in northern Gaza that served as a command and control center. Mushtaha and the other commanders reportedly took refuge in the facility when the strike hit.
