    Pavan Davuluri

Pavan Davuluri, an alumnus of IIT Madras, has been appointed as the new head of Microsoft Windows and Surface. This appointment marks another instance of an Indian professional assuming a leadership role at a major tech company, similar to Sundar Pichai at Google and Satya Nadella at Microsoft.

Mr. Davuluri replaces Panos Panay, who served as the longtime product chief but left the department to join Amazon last year. Previously, Mr. Davuluri was responsible for overseeing the Surface group, while Mikhail Parakhin led the Windows department. Following the departures of Mr. Parakhin and Mr. Panay, Mr. Davuluri has assumed leadership of both the Windows and Surface departments.

An internal memo from Rajesh Jha, Microsoft’s head of experiences and devices, obtained by The Verge, outlined the new organizational structure. He stated that this decision will enable the organization to adopt a “holistic approach” in developing its devices and experiences in the “AI era.”
