    India-Afghan Taliban Meeting on Chabahar Port

    A high-level meeting was held in Dubai on Wednesday between the Afghan Taliban leadership and senior Indian officials, focusing on the India-Afghan Taliban Meeting on Chabahar Port. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri attended the meeting, while Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, representing the Taliban government, was present.

    Strengthening India-Afghan Ties: Chabahar Port Talks with Taliban

    The India-Afghan Taliban Meeting on Chabahar Port is important as New Delhi and Kabul seek to strengthen their relationship and improve cooperation between the two nations. While New Delhi has continued providing limited assistance to Afghanistan, much of their bilateral relationship has remained inactive since the Taliban’s takeover in 2021.

    Dubai Meeting Enhances India-Afghanistan Ties on Chabahar Port

    The meeting in Dubai focused on strengthening bilateral ties in areas like humanitarian aid, development, trade, and regional security. It highlighted projects such as the Chabahar Port in Iran, a key trade route to Afghanistan. India and Afghanistan also share a land border, though it has been disconnected due to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) since 1947.

    India Pledges More Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan at Chabahar Port Meeting

    India pledged more humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, focusing on healthcare, medicine, and refugee rehabilitation. New Delhi has already sent 50,000 tonnes of wheat, 300 tonnes of medicine, and 27 tonnes of earthquake relief. Other supplies include pesticides, polio and COVID-19 vaccines, hygiene kits, winter clothing, and stationery.
