Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to combating global terrorism and urged Pakistan to take swift action against the perpetrators of the 26/11 Pathankot attacks, ensuring that it does not allow its territory for cross-border terrorism.
The leaders reaffirmed the India-U.S. Strategic Partnership based on mutual trust and shared interests. Modi and Trump committed to a results-driven agenda, emphasizing collaboration in defense, trade, energy, technology, and people-to-people ties. They pledged to sustain high-level engagement to advance global prosperity and a free Indo-Pacific.

Commitment to strengthen cooperation against terrorist threats
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism and eliminating safe havens worldwide. They pledged to strengthen cooperation against threats from groups like Al-Qa’ida, ISIS, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and Lashkar-e-Tayyiba to prevent attacks such as 26/11 in Mumbai and the Abbey Gate bombing in Afghanistan. Highlighting their shared goal of justice, the U.S. announced the approval of Tahawwur Rana’s extradition to India.
The leaders urged Pakistan to swiftly bring the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai and Pathankot attacks to justice and prevent its territory from being used for cross-border terrorism. They also committed to working together to curb the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and prevent their access by terrorists and non-state actors. Emphasizing the growing U.S.-India strategic convergence, they reaffirmed their commitment to a robust defense partnership across multiple domains and announced plans to sign a new ten-year Framework for the U.S.-India Major Defense Partnership this year.
