Israel orders ‘complete Gaza siege’, no power, food in response to Hamas attacks

    Israel

On Monday, Israel announced its intention to enforce a comprehensive blockade on Gaza, which would encompass restrictions on allowing food and fuel into the region.

Gaza is already facing a complete electricity blackout after Israel cut electricity supply to the region after Hamas attacked on Saturday, as per the Middle East Eye.

Israel has declared that it will provide “no electricity, no food, and no fuel” to the Gaza Strip and has established a “complete siege” on the region.

Yoav Gallant, the Israeli defence minister, declared, “I have authorized a total siege on the Gaza Strip. Everything is closed, so there won’t be any food, gasoline, or electricity. We behave as though we are battling human beasts.

Israel and Egypt have imposed various blockade levels on Gaza

Israel and Egypt have imposed various blockade levels on Gaza since Hamas seized power from rival Palestinian forces in 2007.

This blockade order came after a three-day conflict between Israeli and Hamas terrorists claimed the lives of over 1,100 people on both sides, with more than 700 killed in Israel, including 44 soldiers.

Israel declared war on the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas on Sunday, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to destroy the terrorist group’s hideouts. Meanwhile, in Gaza, which endured relentless Israeli airstrikes on Sunday, officials have reported at least 493 deaths.

More than 48 hours after Hamas launched an unexpected attack that resulted in the deaths of more than 700 people, Israel’s military declared that it had regained control of the communities surrounding Gaza.

“There is no fighting going on between IsraelDefense Forces troops and Hamas inside Israel, and the IDF has re-taken control of all communities around the Gaza Strip,” CNN quoted IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari as saying on Monday morning.

US President Joe Biden ordered “additional support for Israel in the face of this unprecedented terrorist assault by Hamas”. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin directed the USS Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier and group of warships to the eastern Mediterranean and said that Washington was augmenting fighter aircraft squadrons in the region.

    Israel PALESTINE WAR

The unprecedented Hamas attack that started on Saturday morning has claimed the lives of almost 700 people. The retaliatory military action, Operation Iron Swords, launched by the Israel Defence Forces, claimed over 350 lives in Gaza and the West Bank.

Amid the conflict, there were reports of Hamas terrorists breaking into neighbourhoods in several Israeli towns and kidnapping Israeli civilians.
