Today, the Ministry of External Affairs revealed that Unified Payment Interface (UPI) services have been launched in Sri Lanka and Mauritius. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a virtual ceremony to inaugurate UPI and Rupay card services in these countries. Additionally, NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Lyra recently announced the adoption of UPI in France.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on social media, “The launch of India’s UPI services in Sri Lanka and Mauritius underscores the robust linkages between our countries.”

Here is a list of countries where Indians can use UPI to make payments
- UPI in Bhutan
NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL), the International arm of National Payment Corporation of India and Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) of Bhutan have partnered for enabling and implementing BHIM UPI QR-based payments in Bhutan on July 13, 2021.
- UPI, Rupay in Oman
the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), International Payments Ltd (NIPL), and the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) was signed on October 4, 2022.

- Mauritius
An Indian visitor visiting Mauritius would be able to use UPI to make payments to local businesses because to this connectivity. In a similar vein, a Mauritius tourist using the Instant Payment System (IPS) app would be able to accomplish the same thing in India.
- Sri Lanka
The digital payments connectivity with Sri Lanka will enable Indian travellers to make QR code-based payments at merchant locations in Sri Lanka using their UPI apps.

- Nepal
Nepali users can make a bank transfer to India with a unified payment interface (UPI) ID through mobile banking.

The famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, France is now officially offering India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) service.
