    Cillian Murphy, winner of the Best Actor award for his role in “Oppenheimer”

    At the 96th Academy Awards, Cillian Murphy, the star of “Oppenheimer,” clinched the Best Actor Oscar. In his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude to Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas, acknowledging the incredible journey they’ve shared over the past two decades. He then dedicated his win to the global “peacemakers.”

    Murphy expressed his gratitude upon accepting the award, stating, “I owe you more than words can express.” He extended his thanks to every member of the crew and cast of “Oppenheimer,” acknowledging their support. He also conveyed admiration for his fellow nominees and thanked his exceptional team, concluding with pride in his Irish heritage as he stood on stage that night.

    He went on to say, “Our film delves into the life of the individual behind the creation of the atomic bomb. Whether for good or for ill, we find ourselves in Oppenheimer’s realm. Therefore, I would like to dedicate this to all those striving for peace worldwide.”

    Throughout the awards season, Murphy had garnered multiple honors for his portrayal, including a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

    Paul Giamatti (for “The Holdovers”), Bradley Cooper (for “Maestro”), Colman Domingo (for “Rustin”), and Jeffrey Wright (for “American Fiction”) were among the nominees in the category alongside him. Brendan Fraser, Matthew McConaughey, Nicolas Cage, Ben Kingsley, and Forest Whitaker were the presenters who announced the nominees.

    “Oppenheimer” secured a total of seven Academy Awards on Sunday, including Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr., and the coveted Best Picture award.
