Early Monday, two New York City NYC police officers and a 19-year-old man were shot and injured during a confrontation, according to officials. Mayor Eric Adams stated that a bullet-resistant vest saved one of the officers. All three individuals were hospitalized. The man was taken to a hospital after being shot in the ankle. Charges were still pending against him. After receiving care in the hospital, both officers were released.

Gunman wounds two NYC officers in pursuit shooting
When the police attempted to pull him over, he hopped off the scooter and fled. For several streets, the officers pursued him on foot, according to Caban.Officers responded fire after he shot several rounds at them, according to Caban. The other officer was wounded in the leg, and one officer was shot in the front of his vest. Authorities attest.
After being shot in the ankle, the man was transported to a hospital. He was the subject of pending charges. Following hospital treatment, both cops were released.

Gun was recovered from the scene
A gun was recovered from the scene. Adams held up a vest and pointed to it at the news conference. “This is a bullet hole,” he said. “Because of this vest, a young officer is going home.” The man had no prior arrests in the city but is a suspect in several robbery patterns in Queens, police said, adding that the motorized scooter was not registered. It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer. Robberies in which people on motorized scooters snatch cellphones and other items are on the rise in the city, police said.
