Marking the third anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution, with UN Secretary-General António Guterres warning that the war poses a “grave threat” not only to Europe’s peace and security but also to the core principles of the United Nations.

The US introduced a brief rival resolution, “The Path to Peace,” mourning the tragic loss of life throughout the “Russian Federation-Ukraine” conflict. France proposed an amendment to replace the phrase “the Russian Federation-Ukraine conflict” in the US-tabled text with “the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation.” After incorporating the amendment, the General Assembly passed the resolution with 93 votes in favor, 8 against, and 73 abstentions. India chose to abstain from voting on the US-tabled resolution.
