PM Narendra Modi will visit Dhaka on 26 March to attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh independence.
Bangladesh is all set to welcome PM Narendra Modi to take part in Golden Jubilee celebrations of the country’s independence. Also the birth centenary of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
PM Modi will be the chief guest at the country’s 50th Liberation Day celebrations at the National Parade Ground and Bangabandhu International Conference.
The two sides will hold bilateral talks and are likely to sign a range of pacts. New announcements for bolstering cooperation in several areas will be made during the two-day visit.
This comes days after Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was conferred the Gandhi Peace Award 2020. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bangladesh on March 26 and 27.
This will be his first visit to a foreign country since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina will receive Modi at the Hazrat Shahjalal International airport.

During a press briefing, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Wednesday said, “Bangladesh is at the intersection of our Neighborhood First and Act East policies.
Today it is our largest development partner, our largest trade partner in the region and is the location of our largest visa operation in the world,”
The PM will also be the first Indian dignitary ever to visit the former president’s mausoleum at Tungipara in the Gopalganj district.
“This visit will be of very special significance and will serve to highlight the celebration of our unique and specialties. Which reinforce our comprehensive strategic partnership with Bangladesh,” Shringla said.
Tungipara is the place of birth of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The architect of the 1971 Bangladesh War of Independence. This is also the place where he lies buried at ‘Bangabandhu mausoleum’.
