    Bengaluru Bandh: Airlines issue travel advisories, ask passengers to report early

    Bangalore Bandh Two bandhs have been scheduled for this week. One in Bengaluru on Tuesday and another statewide shutdown on Friday. It is amid protests across Karnataka over the release of Cauvery River water to the neighboring Tamil Nadu.

    Airlines such as Indigo, Vistara, Akasa Air, and Spicejet have issued a travel advisory asking customers to plan their travel. They advised to arrive at the airport in advance to avoid inconveniences due to the Bengaluru bandh on September 26. Farmers and groups supporting Kannada officially called for a stoppage in Bengaluru on Saturday as part of the “Mandya Bandh.” The groups urged support for their proposal for a shutdown from schools, colleges, shop owners, proprietors of various business facilities, industries, companies, and transporters. Amid restrictions, essential services such as hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies and government offices will remain open.

    “Travel time to Bengaluru airport may take longer than normal due to Bandh declared in Bengaluru. We recommend arriving at least 2.5 hrs before domestic and 3.5 hrs before international departures,”

    Akasa Air issues travel advisory for bandh

    Spicejet issues travel advisory for Bengaluru bandh

    Bangalore Bandh, which was called on September 26 and 23, may have an effect on local transportation infrastructure. Passengers are advised to give themselves adequate travel time and to arrive at least 180 minutes prior to departure to avoid any last-minute snags.
