An Australian investigative newspaper claimed on Wednesday that China had suffered heavy losses in 2020 in a violent clash with Indian troops at the LOC in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh.
The newspaper report claimed that many Chinese soldiers drowned while crossing a fast-flowing river in the darkness of night. China has said that five People’s Liberation Army (PLA) military officers and soldiers were killed.
The newspaper Klaxon cited the findings of several anonymous researchers and Chinese bloggers in its report. The newspaper said that researchers and bloggers declined to be named for security reasons, but their findings shed new light on the whole matter.
Clashes broke out between Indian and Chinese troops on June 15, 2020, at the LOC in the Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh. In this 20 Indian soldiers martyred and many Chinese soldiers also killed.
China had earlier denied any casualty. The Chinese government claim later that five PLA and soldiers killed.
However, the Indian military had asserted that more Chinese troops killed in the conflict. The Australian newspaper did not give the number of Chinese soldiers killed but said that the PLA had suffered heavy casualties. The newspaper also said that China had taken strict action to stop the discussion on this conflict.

The PLA, meanwhile, had been preparing infrastructure in the mutually agreed buffer zone since April 2020. On June 6, 80 PLA soldiers came to break the bridge built by the Indian side. 100 Indian soldiers came forward to defend it.
