The Chhattisgarh police have arrested Godman Kalicharan Maharaj on charges of insulting Mahatma Gandhi and praising his assassin Nathuram Godse.
Godman Maharaj arrested in Khajuraho on Thursday.
An FIR registered against Kalicharan Maharaj at the Tikrapara police station in Raipur on the complaint of the former mayor of Raipur Pramod Dubey.
A case also registered against Kalicharan Maharaj at Akola in Maharashtra on Monday.
On Wednesday, Pune police had also registered a case against Kalicharan Maharaj. Others for allegedly making provocative speeches during a program in Pune, said police.
A case registered against Kalicharan Maharaj under section 505 (2) of the IPC (statements inciting or promoting animosity. Hatred or malice between sections) and section 294 (obscene acts in any public place).
As soon as the FIR registered in Raipur, Kalicharan Maharaj allegedly fled from Chhattisgarh. Police had sent teams to Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh to nab the Godman.
