Petrol and diesel price have not changed for more than a month. State-owned oil companies have not changed fuel prices for the 36th consecutive day.
There is a major relief for the common people on the inflation front. State oil companies have released the prices of petrol and diesel for today (December 9).
Currently,(petrol and disel price) the cost of one litre of petrol in Delhi stands at 95.41 and that of diesel at 86.67 per litre. Meanwhile, in the country’s financial capital, the petrol and diesel prices have remained steady at 109.98/litre and 94.14 per litre, respectively. As for Kolkata and Chennai, petrol and diesel cost 104.67 and 89.79 and 101.40 and 91.43 respectively.
On November 30, Delhi became the latest state to announce VAT cut on petrol and diesel. The Arvind Kejriwal government reduced the taxes on petrol from 30 per cent to 19.4 per cent, which reduced its price by Rs 8. Petrol price in Delhi now stands at Rs 95.41 per litre. Similarly, diesel price in Delhi also remained unchanged at Rs 86.67 per litre on Tuesday, six days after the VAT cut.
t may be noted that before this, petrol and diesel prices were last revised on November 3, when the Centre announced a cut in excise duty on fuels, providing relief to the consumers from all-time high fuel rates.
After adding excise duty, dealer commission and other things to the price of petrol and diesel, its price almost doubles.
Noida and Gurugram have seen a surge in petrol price on Tuesday. According to Indian Oil Corporation data, the cost of one litre of petrol in Noida stands at 95.51 while in Gurgaon 95.90 per litre. Prices differ from state to state, depending on the incidence of local taxes and the cost of the transportation.
