Election strategist Prashant Kishor has resigned as the principal advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. He is saying “he’s resigning in view of his decision to take a temporary break from public life”.
Earlier in March this year, Amarinder Singh had appointed Kishor as his principal advisor. He was give the rank and status of a Cabinet Minister.
The government had said that Kishor will get Re 1 per month as a token honorarium and would be entitled to perks including a government residence, half a dozen staff members, free transport, free air travel, telephone and medical facilities.
As you are aware, in view of my decision to take a temporary break from an active role in public life. I have not been able to take over the responsibilities as your Principal Advisor.
Since I am yet to decide on my future course of action. I write to request you to kindly relieve me from this responsibility,” Kishor said in a letter to the CM.

Political circles have been abuzz with rumors of Prashant Kishor joining the Congress. Prashant Kishor’s meeting with the Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra last month set off these speculations.
Sources said Rahul Gandhi also brainstormed with senior party leaders on the pros and cons of poll strategist Prashant Kishor joining the party.
Prashant Kishor’s meeting with NCP chief Sharad Pawar had also triggered a wave of speculation in political circles.
However, he was to entitled to a fully-furnished government residence and camp office, executive class travel, official vehicle, medical facilities, and secretarial staff as admissible to a cabinet minister.
His appointment was announce by Amarinder Singh himself on social media. He had said, “Happy to share that @PrashantKishor has joined me as my principal advisor.
Look forward to working together for the betterment of people of Punjab!”
