    Hyderabad boy Vedant bags Rs 1 crore scholarship to study in US varsity that gave 17 Nobel laureates

    Vedant Anandwade, of Hyderabad, received a scholarship of Rs. 1.3 crore from Case Western Reserve University in the United States for his pre-medical undergraduate studies in neuroscience and psychology. The university has given the world as many as 17 Nobel laureates.

    The 18-year-old bagged this incredible scholarship thanks to his win in a climate competition challenge which made him stand out among other students. He would now be travelling to Paris in November to present his ideas to the jury at UNESCO.

    Vedant wants to travel and further his education abroad. He will be pursuing neuroscience at Case Western and wants to become a surgeon in the future.

    HOW DID VEDANT GET HERE?

    The Hyderabad boy wanted to study abraod since Class 8. He chose biology as a focal point early on. After Class 10 when the pandemic spread, his mother introduced him to Dexterity Global.

    At the age of 16, he applied for a three-month career development programme while shortlisting colleges abroad and counsellors who would help him get there.

    He claimed that he gained confidence and independence as a result of the weekly assignments provided in class. The monthly assignments made the students select opportunities, competitions and quizzes they had to participate in.

    That is how his team from Dexterity Global ended up winning the climate completition challenge which boosted his resume to a great extent.

    VEDANT’S ADVISE TO KIDS

    In his message to kids, Vedant advised them to also focus on extracurricular activities and their strengths in addition to academics as that was what colleges were looking for.

    He advised kids that they should build an all-rounded resume which included other activities apart from academics.

    WHAT VEDANT’S MOTHER SAID

    Vedant’s mother, Vijaya Lakshmi Anadwade, is proud of her son. She is happy with the scholarship of Rs 1.3 crore but told ANI that it wasn’t a full waiver of fees.

    She said that it was thanks to Dexeterity that Vedant was able to build a good platform for himself that allowed him to build his CV so he could bag teh scholarship.

    She expressed happiness that her son could finally pursue his passion along with everything else — play, create music and study as well.

    She added that parents should discover what their child’s distinctive quality was because every child was born with it. She said parents should help in the overall development of their children while allowing their uniqueness to be expressed.
