Qatar has evicted thousands of foreign workers in central Doha where football fans will stay during the FIFA World Cup, according to Reuters.
This has forced workers to bed down on the pavement as they have no other choice.
This happened less than a month before the World Cup starts on November 20.
It has drawn intense international scrutiny.
“We don’t have anywhere to go,” one man told Reuters.
A Qatari government official said the evictions are unrelated to the World Cup
“All have since been rehoused in safe and appropriate accommodation,” the official said.
FIFA was not available for comment.
