The north-bound bridge linking Mumbai Coastal Road with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link opened to the public on Monday, relieving traffic congestion in the city. Three interchanges were also launched, offering better connectivity to areas like Worli, Prabhadevi, Lower Parel, and Lotus Junction.
Work on the Coastal Road, a part of Mumbai’s 1967 master plan, started in 2018. Although the project was originally scheduled to finish by 2022, it faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors. So far, it has cost Rs 14,000 crore.
