Bombay High Court Reevaluates GN Saibaba’s Appeal
According to Bar and Bench, the Bombay High Court bench issued its decision following a reevaluation of GN Saibaba’s appeal. This comes after a previous bench of the high court acquitted the disabled professor on October 14, 2022.Authorities are presently holding GN Saibaba, who is 54 years old and severely disabled, in Nagpur Central Jail.
In March 2017, a sessions court in Gadchiroli found GN Saibaba and his co-accused guilty of purported connections to Maoist activities and engaging in actions deemed as waging war against the nation.
Those acquitted by the Nagpur Bench include GN Saibaba, Hem Mishra, Mahesh Tirkey, Vijay Tirkey, Narayan Sanglikar, Prashant Rahi and Pandu Narote (deceased).
The judgment was delivered by a bench of Justices Vinay Joshi and Valmiki SA Menezes who reheard the appeal by Saibaba after the Supreme Court set aside an earlier acquittal order of the High Court.
