    IMD red alert: Mumbai experienced its highest ever rainfall of 1,512.7 mm in July this year, surpassing the previous year rain record set in July 2020, as heavy rains lashed the city on Wednesday.

    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Telangana, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy showers likely in several districts, including Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Mahabubabad.

    BMC issues road safety advisory amid rain record

    Mumbai rains LIVE Update: Amid heavy rainfall in the city, the BMC has issued following road safety guideline for commuters.

    1. Avoid driving through waterlogged areas to prevent vehicle breakdowns.

    2. Be cautious of slippery roads, drive slowly and maintain distance from other vehicles.

    3. Follow traffic diversions and guidelines for smooth traffic flow.

    Moreover, the monsoon in entire Maharashtra has intensified, particularly in the Southwest region. In light of the situation, a red alert warning has been issued for Mumbai, as Colaba recorded 223 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours and Santacruz witnessed 145 mm. Looking ahead, an orange alert warning is in effect for Mumbai today. Additionally, the IMD official, Sunil Kamble, stated that yellow and orange alerts have been announced for Vidarbha and Marathwada respectively.
