In Maharashtra’s Thane district, a 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after her father forbade her from downloading a messaging app on her mobile phone, police reported on Monday. The incident occurred on Friday night in the Nilje area of Dombivli, according to the authorities.

Snapchat Dispute: Thane Teen Hangs Herself
The girl had downloaded the Snapchat app on her mobile phone, which angered her father, who had asked her not to do so, according to an official from the Manpada police station. Allegedly upset, the girl hanged herself from the bedroom ceiling on Friday night. Her family discovered her body the following day. After being informed, the police sent the body for a postmortem and registered a case of accidental death, the official added.
