Arshdeep Singh, after being hit for four boundaries by Riyan Parag, had the final say by dismissing him and following it up with a fierce send-off. Up until Parag’s wicket, the India A vs India D Duleep Trophy match resembled a T20 fixture more than a four-day game, despite the white clothes and red ball. Parag’s aggressive style made it feel like limited-overs cricket. As Laxman Sivaramakrishnan mentioned in commentary, such innings can be seen as either thrilling or reckless, depending on the outcome. While Parag’s strokes brought excitement, once he was dismissed, his approach appeared flashy and perhaps unnecessary for a high-stakes, four-day match.

Riyan Parag, known for his bold and aggressive batting style, seems unbothered by traditional cricket norms. Despite knowing the orthodox playbook, Parag often deviates from it, playing with a fearless Gen Z mindset. However, in this Duleep Trophy, his risky approach hasn’t yielded much success. Though exciting while it lasted, his quickfire cameos have lacked long-term impact in the bigger picture.
Parag Smashes Six and Three Boundaries
In this match against India D, Parag came out aggressively after scoring 30 and 31 in his first match against India B. He started his innings with a towering straight six off India D’s fastest bowler, Vidwath Kaverappa, which would easily make the highlight reel. Parag was particularly harsh on India international Arshdeep Singh, smashing him for three boundaries in one over.

Arshdeep, visibly frustrated by the onslaught, responded in his next over with short-pitched deliveries aimed at unsettling Parag. The Assam all-rounder, unfazed, ramped one of the bouncers over the slip cordon for another boundary, further fueling the battle between the two. Ultimately, Arshdeep had his revenge, dismissing Parag and sending him off with an aggressive gesture.
