Actor Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for portraying Fredericks in the widely acclaimed television series CID, passed away on Tuesday at 57. Dayanand Shetty, his CID co-actor who played Daya on the show, confirmed the sad news, stating that Dinesh breathed his last at 12:08 am. The actor, in his late 50s, had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital.
Shetty shared that Dinesh died of multiple organ failure. He said, “There were a lot of complications and he was removed from ventilator last night.” The actor’s funeral will take place in Mumbai at 10.30 am.

Earlier, it was reported that Dinesh Phadnis suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday, following which he was admitted to the hospital. Later, Shetty confirmed it was not cardiac arrest but liver damage.
Dinesh gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Fredericks in the enduring TV series CID, which debuted in 1998 and continued for two decades on Sony TV. Additionally, he featured in the well-loved sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and took on supporting roles in films such as Super 30 and Sarfarosh.
