Anurag Thakur, Union I&B Minister, announced on Tuesday. A space audit of the Ministry’s facilities as part of the cleanliness program has freed over 11 lakh sq ft of space. “The space efficiency and co-location of various branches of the I&B ministry will provide synergy among sister organizations and make accessible vast amounts of space for future use,” Thakur told reporters.
An I&B Ministry team led by Thakur visited the Doordarshan Kendra Ahmedabad on September 29 as part of a pre-campaign assessment, according to officials. Thakur was also claimed to have visited associated offices in Mumbai and the Doordarshan Kendra in Bhopal. According to officials, co-locating spaces would provide more cash for Prasar Bharati in the form of rentals, while using available space in government buildings rather than private buildings will save significant leasing costs.
The Ministry also announced last month that it had disposed of 4,375 quintals of scrap and other items. The initiative also focused on pending items, weeding out unnecessary files, overall workplace cleanliness, and space management.
As part of the exercise, Thakur first visited Doordarshan Kendra in Ahmedabad on September 29 as part of a pre-campaign inspection followed by several places, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kurnool, Chennai, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, and Jabalpur.
