    On July 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored the courageous soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil war 25 years ago. At the Kargil War Memorial, he paid tribute to the heroes on the 25th anniversary of India’s victory over Pakistan. In his address to the troops and attendees, PM Modi issued a warning to the neighboring country, indicating that its malicious plans would not come to fruition, though he did not mention Pakistan by name.

    Kargil Vijay Diwas, celebrated every year on July 26, marks the victory of Operation Vijay in 1999. During this operation, Indian forces successfully retook key positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir that had been infiltrated by Pakistani soldiers and terrorists.

    Upon completion, it will stand as the highest tunnel in the world. The Shinkun La Tunnel will facilitate the rapid and efficient movement of the nation’s armed forces and equipment while also promoting economic and social development in Ladakh.

    Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute

    “Kargil Vijay Diwas is a time for our grateful nation to honor the indomitable courage and exceptional valor of our armed forces. I pay homage to each soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice defending Mother India on the heights of Kargil in 1999 and bow in reverence to their hallowed memory,” President Murmu posted on X.
