Yoga guru Ramdev is scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court regarding Patanjali Ayurved’s “misleading advertisements.”The Supreme Court, in the previous hearing, strongly reprimanded Patanjali for not complying with its orders and instructed Ramdev and the company’s Managing Director Balkrishna to personally appear before the court today.

Patanjali’s Apology and SC’s Directive on Advertisements
Following the hearing, Patanjali submitted an unconditional apology to the court, asserting that the company’s aim was solely to encourage citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles by using its products. On February 27, the Supreme Court had instructed the company to immediately cease all electronic and print advertisements for its medicines containing misleading information.

SC Caution to Ramdev Patanjali Ayurved Following IMA Petition
The case originated in November of the previous year when the Supreme Court, during a hearing prompted by a petition filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), warned Patanjali Ayurved against making deceptive and inaccurate claims in its advertisements for medicines. The IMA cited multiple advertisements that purportedly depicted allopathic medicine and doctors unfavorably, accusing certain companies involved in ayurvedic medicine production of making disparaging statements to mislead the public.
