    On Thursday, the Supreme Court put a hold on a Madras High Court order that permitted police action against spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and took over the case. This decision came after the Isha Foundation appealed to the Court, challenging the High Court’s directive, which required the Tamil Nadu government to provide information on all criminal cases filed against the foundation.

    Supreme Court Seeks Status Report in Case Involving Allegations

    During the hearing, the Court instructed the bench to file and submit a status report, with the next hearing scheduled for October 18. The Supreme Court’s order was in response to a petition from S Kamaraj. He was a retired professor from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore, who claimed that his two daughters had been brainwashed. Chief Justice Chandrachud, after speaking to Kamaraj’s daughters. He participated virtually in the hearing, stated that they were staying at the ashram of their own free will.

    Isha Foundation Denies Allegations

    The Isha Foundation issued a statement dismissing the allegations as baseless. Isha Foundation was founded by Sadhguru to impart yoga and spirituality . We believe that adult individuals have the freedom and wisdom to choose their path,” the statement read. The foundation denied pressuring individuals into marriage or monkhood, asserting that these are personal choices.
