    Traffic restrictions

    On Friday, due to the Martyrs’ Day rally of the Trinamul Congress, significant sections of central Kolkata will experience road closures and traffic restrictions from 4am to 9pm. Kolkata traffic police have issued an advisory and announced the regulation of traffic on specific roads during this period to prevent anticipated congestion in those areas.

    • Bidhan Sarani (between Keshab Chandra Sen Street crossing and Vivekananda Road crossing)
    • College Street
    • Brabourne Road
    • Strand Road (between Hare Street crossing and Raja Woodmount Street crossing)
    • BB Ganguly Street
    • Bentinck Street
    • New CIT Road
    • Rabindra Sarani (between BK Paul Avenue crossing and Lalbazar Street crossing)

    No parking

    Parking will not be allowed on the following stretches

    • AJC Bose Road (between Hastings crossing and Cathedral Road crossing)
    • Hospital Road
    • Queensway
    • Cathedral Road
    • Casuarina Avenue
    • Lovers Lane

    Police advice

    A senior officer in the traffic department of Kolkata police said it was advisable to avoid roads through which rallyists are scheduled to proceed. “The idea is to keep the traffic moving through roads through which rallyists are not scheduled to move,” said an assistant commissioner.

    Trinamul supporters headed for the venue will move through the following stretches from around 8am

    • Sealdah station-AJC Bose Road-Moulali-SN Banerjee Road-Dorina crossing-JL Nehru Road-Bentinck Street
    • Shyambazar five-point crossing-Bhupen Bose Avenue-Bidhan Sarani-College Street-Nirmal Chandra Street-Ganesh Chandra Avenue-Central Avenue
    • Howrah bridge-Strand Road-Kingsway-Plassey Gate Road-Red Road-Mayo Road-New Road-JL Nehru Road-Chowringhee-Bentinck Street
    • Hazra crossing-SP Mukherjee Road-Ashutosh Mukherjee Road-JL Nehru Road
    • Girish Park-Central Avenue
    • Khudiram Anushilan Kendra-Auckland Road-Strand Road-Kingsway Plassey Gate Road-Kutchha Pathway through Taltala Ground-Red Road-Mayo Road-Dorina crossing-JL Nehru Road
    • Geetaniali Stadium-Rashbehari connector-Hazra crossing
