Police found the body of Vanshika Saini, a 21-year-old daughter of Dera Bassi-based Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Davinder Saini of Saini Mohalla, near a beach in Ottawa, Canada, on Monday under mysterious circumstances. She had been missing from her rented accommodation since April 22.

A senior police officer said that the police advised him to contact the embassy in Ottawa online and also to lodge a missing report after he approached them.

Saini said that the authorities have conducted a postmortem examination and that it would take some time to bring the body back. The family last talked to Vanshika over phone on April 22.
MLA Randhawa said he visited the family in the morning. Vanshika’s death deeply saddens us. She was a topper in her school in Dera Bassi and had been doing well in Canada. Davinder is a close associate and is in-charge of my office. This is a huge loss for us too,” Randhawa said.
