Mahendra Singh Mewar, former BJP MP and member of the Mewar royal family, passes away on Sunday at the age of 83. He died at a private hospital in Udaipur.According to family sources, he had been receiving treatment there for several days.
Mahendra Singh Mewar, a descendant of the 16th-century Rajput king Maharana Pratap, served as a prominent member of the erstwhile Mewar royal family. He represented the Chittorgarh constituency in the Lok Sabha, elected on a BJP ticket in 1989.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, BJP state president Madan Rathore, Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi, and other leaders expressed their condolences on his passing.

“He remained devoted to preserving and enriching Rajasthan’s heritage throughout his life and served the people with unwavering dedication. His commitment to social welfare will continue to inspire,” he added in his message of condolence.
“I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of former MP Maharana Shri Mahendra Singh Ji Mewar. I pray that the Lord grants his soul peace and gives his family the strength to endure this great loss,” Sharma shared on X.
“His passing is deeply saddening and a tremendous, irreplaceable loss for the region and the state. His contributions and work for society will always be remembered, and his life will continue to inspire many,” said Joshi.
Mahendra Singh Mewar’s son, Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, is the BJP MLA for Nathdwara in Rajsamand district. His daughter-in-law, Mahima Kumari, represents Rajsamand as the BJP MP. PTI SDA AS AS
