Actor Pradeep Vijayan, known for his roles as both a villain and comedian in several films like Thegidi and Hey! Sinamika, was discovered deceased at his residence on Wednesday. His friend made the grim discovery when visiting after not receiving any response for two days. Authorities are currently probing the circumstances surrounding his death and have not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause.

Actor Pradeep Vijayan Found Dead in His Home
The residence’s door was locked, and upon Pradeep’s failure to respond despite repeated knocking by his friend, the authorities were notified. The Neelankarai police, accompanied by the fire department, forcibly entered the premises. Inside, Pradeep was discovered deceased with a head injury. Law enforcement has transferred the body to Royapettah Government Hospital.
It’s suspected that Pradeep passed away two days earlier due to a combination of a head injury and a heart attack. Nonetheless, the Neelankarai police are conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his demise, and a postmortem examination will be conducted on the body.
Soundarya shares condolences
After news broke, people took to X (formerly Twitter) to share condolences. Singer-actor Soundarya Bala Nandakumar wrote, “Ok this is coming as a shocker. Was very fond of him as a brother. No we never used to talk everyday but whenever once in a blue moon we spoke affection was very much intact. You will be terribly missed Pradeep K Vijayan anna. May your soul rest in peace.”
Legacy of Pradeep Vijayan in Tamil Cinema
Pradeep, affectionately known as Pradeep Nair Pappu, made his mark in Tamil cinema with his debut in Krishnan Jayaraj’s 2013 film “Sonna Puriyathu.” However, it was his portrayal of Poornachandran (Sadagoppan) in P. Ramesh’s 2014 thriller “Thegidi,” starring Ashok Selvan and Janani, that catapulted him to fame. Playing the role of a witty detective, his performance left a lasting impression on audiences.
His final cinematic venture was in S. Kathiresan’s 2023 release “Rudhran,” alongside Raghava Lawrence. Despite being a tech graduate, Pradeep pursued a career in Kollywood driven by his passion for acting. Alongside his acting endeavors, he also engaged in subtitling work for various movies, showcasing his multifaceted talents within the industry.
