Due to China’s provocative actions, tension has once again started increasing in the already tense relation between India and China.
China is now refusing to accept the consensus to resolve the tension on the LAC in eastern Ladakh.
The consensus to resolve the tension on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh was to reached during a meeting between Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi last year,
China is also not following the written promise not to deploy a large number of soldiers on the border.
Current situation challenging
Addressing an international seminar, Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said that Chinese PLA troops have been deployed on a large scale along the LAC in Ladakh.
“This is violation of agreement between two countries that there will no deployment of large numbers of troops on border.”
Describing the current situation as challenging. Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said that the question is whether the two countries can build relations on the basis of mutual reconciliation and mutual cooperation.
China’s Fresh deployment of troops
China has also redeployed troops in many areas of LAC and on contrary, has started blaming India for current tension.
In such a situation, there is no hope for a meeting to held soon under the leadership of the foreign ministries of both countries to settle the dispute.
Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar has expressed disappointment over China’s attitude and urged China to follow through on written promises.
Not ready to scale down PLA deployment
China is not ready to scale down deployment of PLA troops in Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang areas.
India has been saying officially that tensions cannot subside until there is complete withdrawal of Chinese troops from the LAC. The situation before May 2020 is to restore.
China’s Threat from India
When asked to comment on Jaishankar’s remarks, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian replied that India should not link bilateral relations with China to border disputes.
Terming the heavy deployment by the Chinese side on the LAC border as a normal defensive arrangement. He said that this deployment has been done in view of possible threat of encroachment on Chinese land by India.
He described the deployment of Indian soldiers on the LAC as the root cause of the problem.
