Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram (P Chidambaram) has suggested the way to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on the sinking debt. He has made two tweets a while back. The former finance minister wrote in the first tweet, “The debate over indebtedness or betting is irrelevant, people who will be very happy with it are Nirav Modi, Mehul Chowki and Vijay Mallya. The rules are made by humans only. Can be done, it can also be finished. ”
He further said that why the RBI rule is being applied to the willful defaulters who have been declared as absconders. This rule can also apply to the second category defaulters, but why the fugitives? The Finance Minister is saying a technical matter but the question is of a larger dimension. Why is that rule being applied to the fugitives who have run away with debts of thousands of crores. Why is the Finance Minister hiding behind the technical rule. This rule can be applied to those normal defaulters, whose property can be recovered from here.
He wrote in the next tweet, “The only way to rectify this historic mistake is to direct all the concerned banks to reverse the writings written in their books of accounts, and could not be recovered from the fugitives in their books. Take steps to recover them by showing them as ‘outstanding loans’. “
