Internal conflicts within the Trinamool Congress became public on Tuesday when the BJP released a leaked video and screenshots showing a heated argument between top party members. BJP’s IT cell in-charge, Amit Malviya, shared a video on X, claiming it captured an altercation between senior Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee and another unnamed lawmaker at the Election Commission office on April 4. The BJP leader alleged that the dispute escalated so much that the police had to intervene. In the video, Kalyan Banerjee angrily shouts at the other lawmaker, while Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien tries to intervene.

Banerjee says, They are so unruly, and warns, Saying will get me arrested. O’Brien asks for calm, saying, We are in a public space, brother. Another voice cautions Banerjee that the incident will leak to the media, to which Banerjee responds, “Let it be, I want it to be out in the media. As the video circulated, Trinamool MP Saugata Roy admitted that the other party in the argument was likely Mahua Moitra, condemning Banerjee’s intemperate behaviour and calling it unacceptable. Roy also stated that internal matters should not be leaked as it hurts the party’s dignity.

Trinamool Turmoil: Banerjee Criticized for Clash with Moitra
Banerjee, however, claimed that Moitra had shouted at him and even sought his arrest from the BSF. He also criticized her focus on Modi and Adani, questioning her political agenda. While Roy wasn’t present during the argument, he mentioned seeing Moitra crying in Parliament and contemplating a complaint against Banerjee. Some senior Trinamool members are reportedly upset with Banerjee’s behavior, with calls for his removal as Chief Whip.

Amit Malviya also shared screenshots from a WhatsApp group, AITC MP 2024, which allegedly showed the argument continuing in messages between MPs. In the messages, Banerjee insults a versatile international lady and Lok Sabha MP Kirti Azad. Azad responded, advising Banerjee to act responsibly, but Banerjee shot back, accusing Azad of internal party politics. Malviya ended his post by joking about the identity of the versatile international lady, adding to the intrigue. Sources suggest that Mamata Banerjee feels deeply disturbed by the issue and is personally investigating both the internal conflict and the leak of private chats.
