Preity Zinta criticizes Kerala Congress for spreading ‘false news’
Preity Zinta, expressing her “shock” at a political party for “spreading fake news,” stated that she “completely repaid” the loan more than ten years ago.
In a post, the Kerala Congress had previously alleged that the ‘Veer Zaara’ actress “handed over her social media accounts to the BJP and had ₹18 crore forgiven.” Preity Zinta took to X, stating, “I manage my social media accounts myself. Shame on you for spreading FAKE NEWS! No one has written off any loan for me. “I’m shocked that a political party or its representative is promoting false information and engaging in malicious gossip and clickbait by using my name and images.”
She added, “Just to clarify, a loan was taken and FULLY PAID BACK over 10 years ago. I hope this clears up any confusion moving forward.” In a follow-up post, the actress expressed frustration with media outlets for not verifying the information before publishing it. She continued, “So much false information circulating, but thank goodness for social media and thank goodness for X!” Preity Zinta also criticized several media outlets for misreporting and failing to take responsibility for their errors.
“I believe it’s time we start holding them accountable right here to ensure there’s responsibility moving forward,” the actress wrote. She further added, “Next time, please contact me to verify the story before using my name.”
